Mercy Killing - Iyowa

Hey, wakey-wake! Check out that rain
Although the rain is to stay in your way with no end date
Ahh, what’s all that? You haven’t got it yet?
Looking here with a dreadful face that’s screaming regret

Did I say I would make you pay for a thousand days if you lied to me?
Come on down for a meal of needles in your mouth

Bug-struck love so lost, it begs for a mercy killing, so order up
Melting down the vows that kept our pinkies bound
With fingers crossed by your back*, you said you would stay!
I couldn’t hear at all the morning call, not today**
And so the sunrise is to kiss me awake
Unhappiness and my own happiness are lost inside of me, locked away within a daze
So think of me when you’re feeling guilty, okay?

You played your filthy little games
Thinking I wouldn’t find a trace of what you’re breaking
When I say I would make you pay for a thousand days, don’t you lie to me! Right?
There was a song that said to keep on loving while you’re young
And old it was, the radios would keep it playing on and on
But this loving falls apart without a chance to even start

Let’s begin this curtain call with a mercy-giving to both of you
As I found the way to keep ourselves entwined
In a timeless haze that’ll never fall back behind***
I wanna find the meaning lying up in these lights
Within the living room you lied through the night
All of the time in the world is all mine
For everything you see, and all the measures coming next
Are not a dream, in the end.

Ahh, this happiness is so divine! For your mercy killing has come in time
Revel in your twisted face throughout the night
That’s wracked in grief, as your happiness is now mine
I’ll never hear it, then -- the morning call, not again, so make it known that this is the end
Unhappiness and your own happiness are drowning out today, lost in guilt forevermore
I welcome you to eternal, personal hell.

NOTES
------------
* Denoting lying.

** "Morning call" is a loan word in the original song, translated as "wake-up call". Although it is not properly used in English, I decided to keep it as is.
There's a double meaning where a wake-up call can be either a service that wakes you up at a specific time (such as from a hotel), or used in its more common definition of suddenly becoming aware of something.

***The original line is kind of vague: "I’ve figured out how to keep this time, which will never be wound back, going."
Given that this song is about the speaker Makiri killing her lover's mistress and then herself, she seems to be referring to how her act will always stay in her lover's memory.
